Tula Treants (nee Panos), 89, of New Berlin, WI, passed away peacefully surrounded by family on April 16, 2023 at her son’s home in Boulder Junction, Wisconsin after a nearly decade-long battle with Alzheimer’s. She was the first of four children of William and Katina Panos.
In her youth, Tula attended school while working alongside her sisters at her father’s store, where she eventually met her husband Bill following his return from the Navy. After they wed in 1952, they laid down roots in New Berlin, later welcoming two children – Nicolette in 1953, and Peter in 1957. Together, Tula and Bill ran a successful business managing rental properties in downtown Milwaukee. They celebrated 61 years of marriage before Bill was welcomed into God’s arms in 2014.
Tula loved to travel, visiting Greece and other global destinations after her retirement, and enjoyed summer visits to her cabin surrounded by the great outdoors in the Northwoods. She was a devoted member of the Annunciation Greek Orthodox church, and her lifelong love of music led her to sing in the choir for many years. Tula is remembered for her generosity, hosting many family and church gatherings during the holidays and baking up a storm. Her warm heart lit up whatever room she entered. Her sharp wit and sense of humor brought a lifetime of smiles and laughter to those who knew her, and certainly lives on in the generations that succeed her.
She is survived by her son, Peter Samuel (Leeandra) Treants; her daughter, Nicolette “Niki” (Nicholas) Flessas; her grandchildren, Peter “Axios” William Flessas, Zachary “Zak” Nicholas Flessas, and Magdalyn “Maggie” Kay Treants; her sisters, Deanna (William) Goeldner and Ann (the late Robert) Gritzmacher; her nephews Andrew (Shelly) and William Goeldner, Mark and Matthew Gritzmacher; and many other family members and friends who will miss her dearly. She is preceded in death by her mother and father, her husband, William “Bill” Treants, and her sister, Wanda Panos.
Peter and Leeandra Treants would like to extend their gratitude to Compassus Hospice for their exceptional end-of-life care for Tula.
