Troy John Hodorff, of Menomonee Falls, passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home, with his wife and family by his side on Saturday, November 2nd, 2024, after a relentless fight against colon cancer. He fought an incredible 5-year fight, pushing past any timelines the doctors gave him. He made sure he got time to be a loving husband and to be a part of his six grandchildren’s lives.
Troy was born April 19th, 1962, in Fond Du Lac, WI, to the late Hubert and Hazel Hodorff. Troy along with his older sister grew up in Fond Du Lac until the family built a house and moved to Van Dyne in middle school. He graduated from Laconia High School and spent a year at River Falls college on a football scholarship.
He held a few jobs before becoming an over the road truck driver following in his father’s footsteps. He enjoyed 37+ years of trucking, spending most of that time working for TTI. He hit his 35th anniversary with the company shortly before having to retire to continue his fight against cancer. On July 31st, 2021, Troy married the love of his life Tammy and together they blended their lives and created a beautiful family.
Troy was a gentle giant whose heart was bigger than he was. Besides his heart he was best known for making everyone laugh with his quick wit, silly impressions and endless “dad” jokes. He enjoyed spending his weekends with family and friends. His love of music was vast and ranged from Ozzy to Sia and everything in between. He especially enjoyed live music and went to many concerts.
He loved watching sports whether it was high school, college or the Packers who always seemed to rile him up but never enough to sway his loyalty. Troy’s greatest passion was being out on the open road. If it wasn’t in his semi-truck listening to his extensive collection of music, it was on his Harley, hands high on the handlebars and wind in his face.
Troy’s gentle heart will live on in the hearts of those closest to him: his wife Tammy Hodorff, children Danielle (Matt) Brehmer and Josh Hodorff, step-children; Jenna (Josiah) VerVelde, Carly (Levi) Kossow, Calvin Dassow and Becca Dassow, grandchildren; Kaeden Hodorff, Brynnley and Croix Brehmer, Teddy and Cooper VerVelde and Etta Kossow, sister Tracy Grover and nephew Ryan (Jodi) Thorpe and family and many cherished friends from all of his adventures in life.
Troy was preceded in death by his parents Hubert and Hazel (Barfknecht) Hodorff, grandparents, many beloved aunts and uncles, and several great friends.
The family extends their sincere gratitude and appreciation to Cedar Lake Community in West Bend, WI and Horizon Hospice for their care and compassion. They also thank all of those who visited Troy and the family and those who donated their time, food and monetary gifts, the outpouring of love, the kind words, and the pictures and memories that were shared by everyone was greatly appreciated during this difficult journey.
It was Troy’s wishes to have a celebration of life during the warmer months. Family and friends will be notified when a date has been confirmed.
