Died unexpectedly in a tragic motorcycle accident on July 3, 2015, and is now reunited with his dad Greg in Heaven. Age 20. Cherished son of Kathleen. Loving brother of Glen, Andrea, Karla (Nick) Petri, Joe, Justin, Deidra (Josh) Carter, and Mary VanWie. Proud uncle of Lilly and Malaki. Also loved by other family and friends.
Tony VanWie was born July 11, 1994. He became a part of the VanWie family when he was 18 months old. When he was young, he loved playing with Legos, trains and particularly loved railroad crossing signs. When he was a little older he developed a love for Lord of the Rings and Star Wars, especially the role of Darth Vader. He graduated Hartford Highschool and immediately after graduation, joined the military as an 11B (Infantryman). He was stationed in Fort Wainwright, Alaska until he received a medical discharge in May, 2015. He was disappointed but didn't let it bring him down; he loved riding his motorcycle and decided to become a motorcycle mechanic. He was looking forward to attending school in Arizona.
Tony had a strong faith and a kind heart. He was respectful, thoughtful, caring, funny and generous. He impacted so many lives in the short time he had on earth and will be greatly missed. Our family was blessed to know him and to have the memories we'll carry with us forever of what a special young man he was. Rest in peace, Tony. You'll be missed but never forgotten. 'I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Henceforth there is laid up for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, will award to me on that Day, and not only to me, but also to all who have loved his appearing.'
