Sister Mary Jo was born October 10, 1937 in Athens, WI; she was one of six children. Sister Mary Jo Witucki, a Sister of the Divine Savior, or Salvatorian, was a Catholic school educator for 48 years. Within these years, she both taught and was a principal in several Catholic schools in Wisconsin. Sister Mary Jo graduated from Alverno College with a BS in Education. Throughout her career in Education, she also attended numerous workshops, in-services and enrichment classes.
For health reasons, in June of 2012, Sister Mary Jo moved to Salvatorian Sisters Residence in Milwaukee. Less than a year later, after open heart surgery, she became a resident at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus. Her health continued to decline. After visits from family, friends and community members, Sister Mary Jo peacefully entered eternal life on Saturday, September 5, 2015.
Sister Mary Jo was preceded in death by her parents, Florian & Cecilia (Schreier) Witucki; her brothers Edward (Betty) Witucki, Elmer and Norman Witucki. She is survived by her brother, Jerome (Martha) Witucki, her sister Kathleen (Daniel) Elmhorst, sisters-in-law, Martha Witucki, Beverly Witucki Strasser, Janet Witucki Brown, several nieces and nephews as well as her Salvatorian Sisters and the entire Salvatorian family.
Visitation at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus, 3800 North 92nd Street (92nd & Lisbon Avenue), in Milwaukee on Monday, September 14, 12:45 – 1:30PM. Mass of Christian Burial at 1:30PM. Burial at Holy Cross Cemetery, Milwaukee on Tuesday, September 15, 2015 at 9AM. Donations may be made to the Sisters of the Divine Savior in memory of Sister Mary Jo Witucki, SDS.
