Born to eternal life on October 10, 2014, at the age of 90. Sister Katharina, a Sister of the Divine Savior or Salvatorian, came to the United States in 1949 as a novice, when the Communists took over China. Born to eternal life on October 10, 2014, at the age of 90. Sister Katharina, a Sister of the Divine Savior or Salvatorian, came to the United States in 1949 as a novice, when the Communists took over China. Before Sister Katharina entered the Community, she became a trained and certified midwife. In the US she served in the nursery and pediatric department at St. Mary's Hospital, Columbus, WI. In 1961, after becoming a US citizen, Sister Katharina was asked to serve as a missionary in Taiwan. Her ministry included parish work, midwifery and helping in the kindergarten. Sister Katharina was preceded in death by her parents, John and Anne Tang. She is survived by members of the Salvatorian Family.
Visitation for Sister Katharina will be on Saturday, October 18, 2014 at St. Anne's Salvatorian Campus, 92nd and Lisbon Avenue, from 12:45-1:30 PM. The Mass of Christian Burial is at 1:30 PM. Burial will be Monday, October 20, 2014 at Holy Cross Cemetery, 9:00 AM.
