Steve and Donna O'Donnell left a message on January 3, 2018:
I knew Si for approximately 64 years. Memories from our 4 years at Notre Dame, 3 years in the military, and then close friends for many years since. My first date with Donna (before she became my wife) was a double date with you and Si. Our move to California in 1976 cut down on time together but we have remained close friends. Si was a "stand up" kind of guy and he will be missed by all, especially you. Peggy, our prayers are with you and you will be in our thoughts as we move ahead in 2018.

I will remember Si as a patient, friendly, loving, kind neighbor. He always had a hello filled with sunshine. He will be missed. I'm sorry I could not attend the funeral today, but my thoughts and prayers are with Peggy and the family.

Si was one of my best friends while at Notre Dame. He was in my wedding party.i too experienced his and his families' Thanksgiving generosity. I believe he was present when we went to some nightclub where, when the tab arrived, we couldn't scrape the money together, we were bailed out by some St. Mary's girls at a nearby table. We also went one car trip together after ND, though I don't remember where. God seems to have blessed him with a wonderful family.
Ralph & Karen Lightner left a message on January 1, 2018:
Si was one of my closest friends at Notre Dame. He knew I could not get home for Thanksgiving so, more than once, he invited me to Oak Park to spend the holiday with his family. He was able on several occasions to visit my family when he was in Baltimore for ND games with Navy or while he was in the service. He was a groomsman in our wedding. Later, our families got to know one another other via mutual visits. We attended many an enjoyable alumni game together at South Bend. The whole Lightner clan sends our condolences to Peggy and Si's family. May he rest in the peace of Christ.

Silas was a good friend of many who enjoyed a glass of Pinot Grigio after a workout. Si always had the time for a good conversation. He enjoyed and was good at all sports as a participant and spectator. I especially enjoyed attending Minnesota Twins games with him in Ft. Myers. Si will be missed .
Peace of mind is a call away. We’re here when you need us most.

Si had a great influence on my early life and helped me become who I am today. He had a huge heart and would do anything for his friends and family. One thing I regret is losing touch with him in his later years. My condolences to all the family..

I remember Si when I worked in the Activity Department at Care-Age of Brookfield. He came quite regularly to read the paper to the residents. They all enjoyed him and his dedication to Care Age was very admirable. He will be missed!

I only knew Si thru his volunteer time at Care Age Nursing Home & Rehab Center. He would read the comedy section and the residence horoscopes to them. He lit up the room and laughter always followed. He was a good man. My condolences to the family.

So many wonderful memories of this good, decent, and beautiful man who loved his family dearly. Working at 3M for a number of years we never met because of being in different divisions. Brewers baseball brought us together in the early 80's, and I'm blessed to have known Si over the years. In so many ways, a piece of work he was, including the fussiest eater I've ever known, even though he would never admit that he was! Rest in peace dear friend.
Todd Rissel left a message on December 28, 2017:
I never met Si, but I know his favorite daughter, Debbie, of course. He let my son and I enjoy some Norte Dame football tickets. That was as close to heaven as you get without going there. That day was wonderful. We are most appreciative of your daughter, however. What a great testament to you and your wife. Many thanks, Si and God Bless!
