Shirley I. Fuller passed away in Oconomowoc, WI on July 30, 2024 at the age of 101. Shirley was born on October 2, 1922 in Milwaukee. She was the only child of Alvin and Olga Knauer and the granddaughter of German immigrants on both sides.
Shirley worked for Miller Brewing and the Kearney and Trecker company as a young woman, and for Boston Store in her later years. She was a homemaker and stay-at-home mom for most of her married life. She loved spending time with her family and always provided them with good meals. She was especially known for her spaghetti and meat balls as well as her chocolate chip cookies.
Shirley was a member of Ascension Lutheran Church in Milwaukee for over 60 years. This is where she married Richard Fuller on April 22, 1950. They were married for over 63 years until his passing in 2014.
Shirley enjoyed bowling and golf and participated with leagues in both sports into her 90s. She volunteered in several capacities at her church for many years. She also enjoyed traveling to many places throughout the country and the world and openly expressed her pride in Milwaukee to people she met along the way. Her favorite trip was to Germany with the Ascension Lutheran Church choir. She was a Brewers fan with high expectations (she thought they should win every game). Shirley and Dick had a log cabin in northern Michigan where they enjoyed time in the summer.
Shirley is survived by her two children: Doug (Martha Lancaster) of Harbor Springs, MI and Laurel of Hartland, WI. She was the proud grandma to Matthew (Dana) Greulich and Megan (Dan) Meccariello, and loving GG to Juniper and Autumn Greulich and Callen and Luca Meccariello.
She enjoyed an awesome 100th Birthday celebration in October 2022, attended by friends and family.
Family graveside services will be held at Arlington Cemetery at a date yet to be determined.
