Sean Patrick Briggs passed away peacefully on August 11th at the age of 56. Sean was the loving husband of Kristen Roth Briggs and the immensely proud father of Chloe Katherine Briggs. Adored brother of Dawn Sodemann, Sherry Briggs, Colin Briggs (Nicole Larson), and Kelly (Bridget) Briggs. He is further survived by his mother-in-law, Virginia (Strobel) Roth and brother- and sister-in-law, Kevin and Anne-Marie Roth, in addition to many wonderful nieces and nephews and beloved pup, Gracie. He was preceded in death by his mother and father, Paulette and Lloyd Phillips and his father-in-law, Gerald Roth.
Although Sean left us far too young, he packed a full life into those years. He was born in Milwaukee at Mount Sinai Hospital in November of 1968. As a young child, he excelled in school and was given the opportunity to attend a magnet school for MPS, Rufus King High School, where he flourished academically and was a member of the swim team. Following high school, Sean completed his Master Electrician’s License and began his career as a Project Manager for a variety of electrical contractors in Southeastern Wisconsin. It was in a meeting at one of these contractors that he met his wife Kristen in 2000. In 2010, he joined Johnson Controls in Milwaukee. His first years there were with the Energy Solutions division, where he oversaw large lighting retrofit work on projects around the country. He later moved into Federal Systems, working on various government projects both nationally and internationally. He valued his 15+ years at JCI and thoroughly enjoyed the wonderful colleagues and clients with whom he had the privilege of interacting.
Sean had a love for all things outdoors. Boating, fishing, hunting, golf, skiing; whatever got him up in the early hour and kept him outside for much of the day. He loved the calm of the Wisconsin lakes and a great campfire, and the beauty of a beach anywhere around the globe. He had a passion for travel and immersing himself in different cultures that led him to Europe many times, as well as to China, Alaska and beyond. He particularly enjoyed the many ski trips he took with Kristen and Chloe to various mountains around the country, usually accompanied by great friends and family.
Those who surrounded Sean knew him to have an endearing and witty sense of humor. He was known to be a clever and artful prankster, leaving behind a legacy of great stories. He was always willing to lend a hand to help with a project and would never accept anything in return. He will be deeply missed by those who loved him.
Special thanks go out to the amazing staff at AngelsGrace, who took incredible care of Sean in his final days. They truly do the work of angels every day.
