Ruby Sims (nee Aldridge) passed away peacefully on Sunday, April 3, 2016 at age 88. Beloved wife of the late David Sims II and devoted mother of David Sims III, Harold E. Sims, Charlotte Sims, Carla Diane Henderson, Paul R. (Stephanie) Sims, Sr., Cheryl D. (Christopher) Gilliam, Fredonya Curry, Belinda Sims and the late Avard Sims. Ruby is further survived by 28 grandchildren, over 100 great and great-great grandchildren and a host of siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Ruby was born in Tyler, Missouri on June 8, 1927 to Nathaniel and Mahalia Aldridge. She was raised in Hayti, Missouri by her great-uncle, John Reed and her great-great grandmother, Mahalia Johnson, whom she lovingly referred to as "Gramma." She moved to South Bend, Indiana in 1943. She married David Sims in 1945. They had 9 children that they raised in South Bend until they moved to Milwaukee, Wisconsin in 1975. Ruby worked for Holy-Cross Notre Dame as a cook. She was later the owner/operator of Ruby's Things and Stuff, which specialized in antiques, fine glassware and estate jewelry.
Ruby had an amazing warmth that drew people to her. She possessed a natural charm and wit and humor. Her unparalleled depth of love and commitment to the wellbeing of others will never be forgotten.
The Gathering will be at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 W. Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin 53223, Saturday, April 9th from 11:30 am – 12:45 pm. Her Celebration of Life Service will begin at 1:00 pm.
