Ronald Hobart Nagy (Ronnie), 76, of Pewaukee, Wisconsin passed away peacefully at his home on June 15, 2024. While an inoperable cancer diagnosis prompted Ronnie to get his affairs in order, in the end it was his beautiful heart of gold that gave out.
Ronnie was born on October 15, 1947, in Elgin, Illinois. After graduating from high school, he joined the Army and served his country with two tours in Vietnam. Upon his return to the states, he was a police officer in Washington DC and then a motorcycle officer in Phoenix, Arizona for 20 years. After retiring from the Phoenix Police Department he moved to Wisconsin to reconnect with his siblings. One of those siblings had a best friend, who turned out to be the love of his life. Ronnie and Sara met, fell in love and spent the next 25 years sharing amazing adventures together.
Ronnie loved the outdoors; fishing, shooting, scuba diving and fly fishing were just some of his many interests. He was an expert marksman and an avid amateur photographer. Within five minutes of meeting him you knew his life story; he had a million stories to tell and loved nothing more than sharing them. Ron truly wore his heart on his sleeve; he was incredibly generous with his time and talents. He’ll likely be most remembered for his wicked sense of humor, sometimes edgy but always funny jokes and his infectious laugh. Ronnie was also a lover of animals, particularly rescue dogs.
Ron was predeceased by his parents and three siblings, Linda Daly (nee Erixson) Richard and Charles Jr. He is survived by his wife, Sara Hames, of Pewaukee, her children Kelsey, TJ (Jen) and granddaughter Mira, daughters Amy and Christina, his sister, Virginia (Greg) Eiche of West Allis, a host of nieces, nephews, family and friends, and his devoted four-legged constant companion, Dallas.
“Death is a comma, not a period … more to come.” Ron Nagy
