Robert “Bob” Louis Eckardt
Robert Eckardt passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 18th, 2023 at the age of 82. He is survived by his wife, Julie, his two daughters, Christine Mutschler and Colleen Schultz, and his three beautiful grandchildren Carly, Elise, and Sam. Robert is also survived by loving nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
Bob played on many teams throughout his life. His earliest team memory came from playing baseball on the East side streets of Milwaukee. After graduating from Riverside High School, Bob enlisted as a medic in the Army Reserves, where his many comrades quickly became lifelong friends. He later graduated from Marquette University School of Dentistry. His dental colleagues supported his successful and gentle dental career. Bob was a member of North Shore Kiwanis for 30 years and he donated over 20 gallons of blood to the Blood Center of Wisconsin.
Bob’s favorite travel destination was the family cottage in Eagle River, WI. Although, with family and friends by his side, he took on many other adventures. While Bob’s master poker hands never seemed to make an appearance at the bridge table, he enjoyed this time spent with his card shark buddies. Bob had a quiet demeanor but shared his brilliant sense of humor when you least expected it.
Bob’s family team was the most important. From playing HORSE on Hackett, grilling brats in the snow, or landing the big one on the pier with his grandchildren, he loved this bunch more than anything. No matter what team, Bob showed us all patience, empathy, a love of nature, and a desire to serve others. A private celebration for the family was held. Donate blood or plant a tree, Bob will be smiling.
