Robert H. Zastrow

Of Brookfield, WI. Formerly of Wausau, WI. Entered Eternal Life on Thursday, August 18, 2011, at the age of 76. He was preceded in death by his parents, Franklin R. and Mary Zastrow (Nee Hale). He is survived by his wife, Janet M. (Nee Crowe); his children Deborah (Charlie Kellogg) Zastrow, Douglas (Cindy) Zastrow, Denise (David) Saindon, and Dean (Tammy) Zastrow, all of Wausau; step children Blane (Joyce) Crowe of Wausau and Jodie Petrie of Brookfield; sisters Joann (Don) Clemens of Rice Lake, Judy (Oliver) Ewig of Brookfield, Mary (Darby) Holmes of Stone Bank; and brother Jim (Mary) Zastrow of Mosinee. He is also survived by many grandchildren, great grandchildren, other relatives and friends.Bob owned and operated the family business, Zastrow The Beer Man, in Wausau for many years. He also sat on the boards for Central National Bank through the 1970s and 1980s, and the Wisconsin Beer Distributors Association through the 1970s and 1990s. He was a Deacon at Grace United Church of Christ for 4 years and treasurer for 6 years. He graduated from Wausau High School where he was a member of the swim team. Bob enjoyed snowmobiling, curling, and playing cards with friends. He was an avid Packers and Brewers fan, and spent a lot of his time researching his family history and local Wausau history. After retiring from the beer business, Bob was a partner in the Rib Mt. Antiques and the Grand Ave Auction House. He was an avid collector of coins, beer and beverage memorabilia.Visitation will be held at CALVARY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 1750 North Calhoun Road, Brookfield, WI, on Monday, August 22 at 9:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Burial will be in Wausau at a later date.
