Robert G. Hutchinson

Of New Berlin, passed away at his home on December 10, 2014, at the age of 85. Born on March 3, 1929 in Milwaukee, he was the son of William and Annette (Kopplin) Hutchinson. After graduating from West Allis Central High School in 1947, he was united in marriage to Ruth Kolo on September 30, 1950. He was a staff sergeant in the U.S. Army from 1951-1953. He was employed as a technician for Wisconsin Telephone for 39 1/2 years, and enjoyed a long retirement. Robert loved to travel, and he and his wife Ruth took many cruises throughout the years, and enjoyed camping and canoeing with his family. He was a very active skier, and served as a member of the National Ski Patrol for many years; he was also an instructor with the Blizzard Ski School program. Additionally, Bob served as a ski guide to blind skiers with the Blind Outdoor Leisure Development (BOLD) program. Other interests included big band jazz music, and he was a model railroad enthusiast. He was also an active competitive sailor with the Butterfly fleet with the Okauchee Lake Yacht Club.

He will be deeply missed by his children; son William D. (Linda) Hutchinson of Cottage Grove, MN, and daughter Mary Ann Hutchinson of New Berlin; sisters Elizabeth (Hutchinson) Strempel of New Berlin, and Marjorie (Hutchinson) Slack of Lafayette, GA; brothers-in-law Richard (Margaret) Kolo of Greenfield, WI., and Robert (Esther) Wueste of Clemson, SC; along with many nieces and nephews, grand nieces and nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He will also be missed by many lifelong friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and wife of 62 years, Ruth (Kolo) Hutchinson.

Visitation will be at the Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin on Saturday, December 13, 2014. Visitation is 4:00 PM; services are at 7:00 PM. His final resting place will be at St. Adalbert's Catholic Cemetery in Milwaukee.
