Richard R. Hoesly, age 94, passed away peacefully at Harwood Place Senior Living in Wauwatosa, WI on Sunday, September 8, 2024. Born on April 2, 1930 in La Crosse, WI, to Harold and Vitalis Hoesly, Dick married his high school sweetheart, Mavis Inderberg in 1948. After graduating from La Crosse North High School, he attended the University of Wisconsin—Madison where he studied mechanical engineering. He spent more than 30 years working in JCPenney’s catalog distribution division, starting in Wauwatosa, WI in the early 1960s. Over the years Dick and Mavis lived in Wauwatosa, West Windsor, NJ, Elm Grove, New York City, and Dallas before retiring back to Waukesha in 1990. They later moved to Elm Grove and finally to Harwood Place in 2020. They had six children and were actively involved in their activities; including Boy Scouts and swimming programs. Later, Dick and Mavis traveled extensively throughout the world. In his retirement, he also served as an active member of the Elm Grove Golden K Kiwanis Club. He was generous with his time and knowledge and was known to do favors for and be a resource for relatives, friends and neighbors. Dick was preceded in death by his loving wife of 74 years, Mavis Hoesly and their son Thomas Richard Hoesly, formerly of Oconomowoc. He is survived by their daughter, Mary (Hoesly) Patch and her husband Dana of Medfield, MA; their daughter-in-law Debbie (Treul) Hoesly of Oconomowoc, WI; and their sons Robert (Bob) Hoesly and his wife Jill of Englewood, FL; Greg Hoesly and his wife Julie of Elm Grove, WI; Mark Hoesly and his wife Cathy of Norton, MA; and Brian Hoesly and his wife Erin, of Ipswich, MA, as well as fifteen grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.
