passed away peacefully on May 23, 2015 after a brief illness, surrounded by family, at the age of 90 years.
Cherished husband of Lucy Fisher and beloved father of Mary Jo (John) Moch. Dear step-father of Carole (Russ) Setterlun, Barbara Barry, Suzy (Jim) McCormick-Riedle, George (Patti) Ruck, and Michael (Kay) Ruck. Loving brother of James Fisher and Mary Trewortha. Preceded in death by his beloved late wife of 43 years, Marion J. Fisher and their dear son Richard M. Fisher M.D.. Further survived by grandchildren, great-grandchildren, many relatives, and friends.
Richard retired in 1988 after a 39-year career as an electrician at (Globe Union) Johnson Controls. Passionate about his work, he continued to perform odd jobs for many people – leading to a courtship and then marriage to Lucy. He and Lucy were avid bridge players and played frequently with numerous groups. Despite their years, he and Lucy also loved to polka and waltz. They loved to travel and included Hawaii, Mexico, and Arizona in their itineraries.
Richard was active in St. Eugene's Eucharistic Ministry for the home-bound and meal preparation program for the less fortunate through St. Benedict's Ministries. Richard enjoyed fishing with family and friends, whether from restive banks or out on the open water. His garden was already planted this year and showing signs of his "green thumb". He will certainly be missed by the many species of birds attracted to his backyard feeding stations.
Richard, you will be sorely missed by those who so enjoyed your companionship, sense of humor, compassion, and love. We will never forget your devotion to your family. You are forever in our hearts.
The family wishes to thank the physicians and staff at Aurora Medical Center in Grafton for their excellent care during his illness.
If desired, memorials to the Pulmonary Fibrosis Foundation or to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin would be appreciated.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 11:00 AM on Saturday
May 30th, 2015 at St. Eugene Parish, 7600 N. Port Washington Road, Fox Point, WI 53217. Visitation at the church will be held from 9:00 to 11:00 AM. A private interment will be held at Resurrection Cemetery.
