Raymond Joseph Colon was born on May 17, 2000 at St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, WI. At the age of 3 he became his Aunt Sherrion (Resy) number 1 fan as she played basketball. He couldn’t wait to turn 5 so he could be on a team himself. After he played his first game, basketball was his life. In middle school he was a part of three teams year-round, Shorewood Greyhounds (school season and summer league) and AAU all year-round Lakeside Sharks. His Tio “Theo” Eric was his coach for the Shorewood summer league team, which made him push himself even harder to be the star of the team, not to mention he had a family fan club. But no one ever had to question who his mother was because she was proud to be wearing a hoodie or shirt that said, “RAYMOND COLON’S MOM”. His mother was without a doubt his number 1 fan. The family fan club would show up every game, it didn’t matter which team he was playing for, the audience at each game knew who came to see Raymond. I know he felt all our love at every game because his “entourage” was with him. His mother, Lisa, raised him to be a very polite, humble and kind young man. All his friends’ and teammates’ mothers would always compliment her on how well—mannered her son was, which always made her smile from ear-to-ear. When he wasn’t playing basketball, he would explore nature. He loved to go camping and fishing or finding turtles and frogs. In 2018 he graduated from Waukesha North High School and became a father to his one and only son Kingsten Da’meir Colon. Raymond Joseph Colon fell asleep in death on March 15, 2021. He is resting awaiting Jehovah’s promise of everlasting life (1 John 2:25) with his Grandfather Perry Sims and Grandmother Ramona Colon. Those he left to endure this current system of things on earth is his only son, Kingsten Da’meir Colon; parents, Raymond Joseph Sims—Colon and Lisa Marie Young; grandparents, Leo Sherman Young II, Isaac Suggs, and Brenda Suggs; uncles, Perry Washington, Eric Colon, Vincent Sims, Leo Sherman Young III, and Dontrae Henning; aunts, Sherrion (Resy) Young, Chandra Hurt, Toni Mcmillian, Serena Young-Simmons, Chelette Young-Simmons, Denise Washington and De’shion Colon; honorary sisters, Kirsten Carter and Khylee Henning; two great grandmothers; and lots of great uncles, aunts and cousins.
