Great-grandfather of Marianna, Angelo, Bryanna, Nicholas, Colin, Marisa, Kaitlin and Shawn. Also survived by other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his sisters Marion Jensen and Lorraine Wendorf.Visitation in the funeral home on Monday, March 28, 2011 from 4:00 to 7:00 PM. Mass of Christian Burial on Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at 10:30 AM at ST. BERNADETTE CATHOLIC CHURCH (8200 W. Denver Avenue, Milwaukee, WI 53223). Please meet at the church. Interment will be in Resurrection Catholic Cemetery.Phil was born in Wisconsin Rapids, Wisconsin on February 23, 1917, a son of the late Nile and Laura (nee Panter) Thompson. He moved to Milwaukee at a young age and attended local schools. Phillip attended Marquette University and went to work for Allis Chalmers in the Human Resources department and enjoyed a 45 year career there retiring in 1982. Phil was married to his beloved Marjorie for over 69 years and together they raised 7 children. He enjoyed his home which he helped build, and was an avid outdoorsman. His greatest love however, was for his family. A true patriarch, Phil was always interested in all his family was doing. He will be deeply missed.The family wishes to thank his devoted caregivers for their loving care, as well as the staff of Horizon Hospice.
