Pauline Amelia (Hoedebecke) Humpal, 89, of Hales Corners died May 26, 2014 at Clement Manor, Greenfield, Wisconsin.
Born October 2, 1924 in Teutopolis, Illinois, the daughter of Eduard and Adel Hoedebecke. She met Ermin Humpal, "her handsome sailor" while working at the USO in St. Louis, and they were married on June 8, 1946.
Pauline was a long-time active member of St. Mary's Catholic Faith Community, Hales Corners. She was a Minister of the Eucharist and also of Hospitality. She volunteered in multiple capacities in the Altar Society, at fish fries and dinners. She served on the board of the Young at Heart.
She was an Honorary member of the Priests of the Sacred Heart (SCJ) having done extensive volunteering at the Sacred Heart School of Theology. This work included leading the group of women who collected, sorted and packed clothes and eyeglasses for missions in Brazil and Africa.
Surviving her is her husband, sons, Frank (Judy) and Ted (Mary Ellen), daughters Claire (Larry) Marshall of Germantown, Tennessee, Kathleen (Dennis) Christensen of Alexandria, Minnesota, Mary Martens, Margie (Fariborz) Davoodi of Flower Mound, Texas; sisters Dolores Thompson, Jean Roth of St. Louis, Missouri, Rosemary Strohl of Neoga, Illinois; brother Floyd (Buz) of Sigel, Illinois. Grandchildren Carolin, Steve & Nathan (Michaela) Humpal; Angela, Jessie, Kate (Jonathan Lyons) & Chad Marshall; Joey, Heidi (Jeff) Hall & Ted Christensen; Brian (Kristin) Martens; Patrick & Joseph Humpal; Zacharia, Shohreh, Ariana & Aara Davoodi, and great-grandchildren Adelaide Humpal, Ryan, Owen & Cecilia Hall, and Olivia & Nolan Martens.
She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 brothers (Edward and Joseph) and 2 sisters (Roberta and Sr. Liguori [Betty Lou]).
Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10:30 AM, Friday, May 30, 2014 at Clement Manor Chapel, 3939 South 92nd Street, Greenfield, WI. Private burial in Union Grove Veterans' Cemetery. Visitation at the chapel from 9:30-10:30 AM.
