Age 97, died October 13, 2010. Nubby was born in Hales Corners, WI on May 23, 1913, the son of German immigrants. Age 97, died October 13, 2010. Nubby was born in Hales Corners, WI on May 23, 1913, the son of German immigrants. He graduated from Central High School in West Allis in 1932, excelling in several sports. He continued to play baseball and basketball in West Allis leagues after graduation. Most of his working life was spent at Allis Chalmers starting as a machinist's helper and progressing to a manufacturing manager, where supervising his shop friends on the famed Manhattan Project was one of his accomplishments. He married Barbara Wilson, (deceased 1980) in 1944 and built his family home in West Allis.Nubby enjoyed his home, yard, woods and garden. He loved the challenge of the game of golf his entire life. He especially enjoyed sharing his love of golf, bowling and baseball first with his daughters and later with his grandchildren. After retiring, he turned his hand to woodworking, making stools, bookcases, desks and dressers for his family. After reacquainting at their 50th class reunion, he married Mildred "Mickey" Kelly in 1985.Nubby was preceded in death by his father and mother, Adam Wilhelm and Magdalena (Bushardt) Wilhelm; his brothers, Harold and Arnold; his sister Lorain; and his wife Barbara Wilson. He is survived by his wife Mildred (nee Kelpin) Wilhelm; his daughters, Lois Wilhelm and Kathleen Pruitt; his three grandchildren, Nathan (Rebecca Keim) Pruitt, Amy (Bryan) Pedretti and Christopher (Louisa) Pruitt; six great grandchildren; his sister-in-law, Marlys; and several nieces and nephews.Nubby is best remembered as a loving husband, father and grandfather by those who knew him best.Visitation at the Funeral Home Sunday, October 17, 11:30 AM " 1:00 PM.
