(Nee Pierce) Was born into eternal life and found peace on December 11, 2015 at age 54. Best friend, love of his life and wife of Barry J. Hobson for 26 years. Naomi and Barry met via a blind date set up by mutual friends and were married at Wellesley Baptist Church (April 29, 1989). Patient and loving mother of the late Thomas F. Hobson (October 6 – October 21, 1992), Paul A. Hobson and Rebecca E. "Becky" Hobson. Dear sister of Warner Pierce, Marshall (Barbara) Pierce and Rowena (Martin "Marty") Keith. Daughter-in-law of Carol M. (the late Dr. W.S. "Stan") Hobson. Preceded in death by her parents Emerson and Meredith (nee Marks) Pierce. Also loved by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Naomi was the second child of four. While she was a protector of her brothers and sister growing up, she loved to spend time with them daily. She enjoyed outdoor activities such as bicycling, camping and swimming.
Naomi inherited her musical genes from her father. Her primary instrument was the harp, but she also played the piano, flute, french horn, and clarinet. Her musical talent on the harp allowed her to go to Colombia in 1978 with the Greater Youth Boston Symphony Orchestra.
Naomi's determination to succeed showed up in every aspect of her life. She was always an excellent student, never earning less than an A. After her high school graduation in 1979, she decided to major in harp performance. She initially went to Barrington College for a year and then transferred to Juilliard.
Her educational path was changed by her love for microbiology. She decided to further her education in this field graduating from Framingham State with a Bachelor's degree followed by a Master of Science degree from University of Wisconsin Oshkosh. During her undergraduate studies, she worked at US Army Research and Development Command (Natick Labs) on food projects for the Army. Later, she found her passion in teaching and became an adjunct professor at several colleges in different cities, including both Carroll University and WCTC.
Naomi's great pride and joy was her family. She was always a supportive cheerleader for both of her children. She was proud of Paul when he joined his high school robotics team and supported him when he decided to pursue a degree in software engineering. She often gave Becky the much needed motivation and support at various Irish dance and oboe competitions and performances.
