Of Wauwatosa, died on January 25, 2016 at the age of 81 years. Born in Chicago, Illinois, she graduated from St. Catherine of Siena Grade School, Oak Park and River Forest High School, and Marquette University, where she earned a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Spanish. She served in the United States Marine Corps as Appointments Secretary to the Commandant, attaining the rank of first lieutenant. Over the years she devoted much time to volunteer activities, including the Milwaukee Achievers and Literacy Services of Wisconsin. At the San Camillo Retirement Community she served as chairperson of the "Good News" newsletter, director of the House Committee, board member of the Resident Advisory Council, and secretary of the Lay Camillian Family. In recognition of her many contributions, she received the Distinguished Service Award for 2013 by vote of her fellow San Camillo residents.
Preceded in death by her beloved husband John and sister Peggy, Nancy was the cherished mother of Timothy (Mark Wilson), Elizabeth (Richard Schneider) Goodman Schneider, and Jennifer (Thomas) Atwater; grandmother of Michael, Teresa, Alexander, Abigail, and Gabriel; and great-grandmother of Trinity. She was also loved by nieces Peggy Soliday, Deborah Newhardt, and Mary Ehl.
A Memorial Mass will be held at the San Camillo chapel, 10200 West Bluemound Road, Wauwatosa, Wisconsin, 53226, at 11 a.m. on Monday, February 1, 2016, with visitation starting at 10 a.m.
