Passed away on April 10, 2009, age 94. Morris was born on November 15, 1914, in St. Louis, Missouri, to Louis and Teresa Fine. Morris graduated from Washington University in St. Louis, MO, with a B.S. in Chemical Engineering and started his career with the U.S. Bureau of Mines as a GS-1 Technician. Over the next 43 years Morris rose to be Director of the Rolla, Missouri, station of the USBM and retired after publishing a record number of technical papers and being awarded the US Government Medal of Merit for Technical Achievement. Morris was a leader, rising to the top of his profession and in his avocations as he was the President of many organizations including Rotary, Toastmasters and the Alexian Village Resident Council. Morris loved bridge, bowling, fishing, the Democratic Party and good food. However, Morris considered that his biggest accomplishments in life were being a faithful and devoted husband to his wife of fiftyeight years, Mae Fine and a wonderful father to his son Ted. Morris is survived by son Ted and his wife Janet, his three grandchildren, Bill Fine, Ellen Fine and Jef Ikenn, and his two great-grandchildren, Reese Bean and Zach Fine. A private family funeral service will be held at Second Home Cemetery. There will be a memorial service and celebration of his life at the Alexian Village of Milwaukee on April 21, 2009, at 12:00 noon with a reception to follow. The family wishes to extend a heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff of the Alexian Village Courtyard where Morris spent his final years.
