Michael Herbert Marquardt, age 76, of Hartland, died May 27, 2018 at the ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital in Waukesha, WI.
Mike was born in Milwaukee, WI on May 16, 1942 to the late Herbert and Cecelia (nee Knedle) Marquardt. He graduated from Bay View High School in 1960. Mike worked as an auto technician for many years throughout Milwaukee and Waukesha and had been enjoying retirement since 2007.
Mike was a kind-hearted, hardworking and somewhat reserved man who loved helping others. He was always tinkering on something in his workshop and if you needed something fixed – he more than likely had the part needed to do so stashed away in his collection. He was also passionate about his dogs – particularly his favorites Chester and Cosette.
He loved spending time with his family – whether a simple dinner or full-blown Serbian celebration, and never was one to turn down good food. He also enjoyed fishing and boating on his beloved lake, snowmobiling up north and was an avid train collector who had a train set to envy. He will be greatly missed.
Mike is survived by the love of his life and long-time partner Branka (nee Rajnovic) Meyer; his sons Jeffrey (Janice) Marquardt of Rice Lake, Daniel (Robin) De L’eau of Madison, WI, and Christopher Marquardt of Champagne, IL; his daughter Lorah Marquardt of Stevens Point, WI; his step-son Branko (Megan) Meyer of Waukesha, WI; and his grandchildren Spencer, Evan, Silas, Jasmine, Josette and Jason. He is further survived by his former wife Kathryn (Gessert) Thelen, many extended family and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents.
The family would especially like to thank the staff at ProHealth Waukesha Memorial Hospital
and ProHealth Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital for their efforts and kindness they gave Mike during his final days.
Their care and compassion truly made a difference to him and his family.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Humane Animal Welfare Society (HAWS) of Waukesha.
A Memorial Service will be held at 4:00 PM, Saturday, June 9th, 2018, at Krause Funeral Home, 21600 West Capitol Drive, in Brookfield. The visitation will begin at 2:00 PM at the funeral home until the time of the service.
