(Nee Thiery) Died March 1, 2012, at her home in Milwaukee. She was the beloved wife of Howard Race. The daughter of Marion T. Cadoret Thiery and Howard J. Thiery Sr. Mary was born in Springfield, MA. She grew up in the Hartford, CT area and attended local schools there including Mount St. Joseph. Mary moved to Milwaukee with her husband, made her home there. She lived all of her adult life in Milwaukee.In addition to her husband, Mary is survived by her brother Howard Thiery Jr., his wife Rita, her brother Raymond Thiery and his wife Norma. She was preceded in death by a brother Robert Thiery. Mary is also survived by several nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews and cousins.Mary was a devout member of St. Margaret Mary Parish in Milwaukee. She participated in parish activities including the bowling team.Mary was an outstanding professional in the insurance industry. A recognized leader, she helped to break barriers for women in the field and created avenues for advancement.A generous and fun-loving person, she and her husband spent happy hours at their campsite and traveling in their RV. Mary participated in community events and was an avid sports fan. She hosted wonderful parties remembered by many.She enjoyed her rose garden, good conversations, interesting books and discussions on various topics. She cared deeply for her faithful companions: her much loved dogs.She will be sadly missed by all who had the opportunity to know and love her, especially her family.Services will be held at St. Margaret Mary Church, 92nd and Capitol Drive on Friday, March 16, 2012. Visitation will be at the church from 9:30-11:00 AM with Mass at 11:00 AM. Following the Mass, entombment will follow at Holy Cross Cemetery.
