(Née Knoernschild) Died at the age of 92 on July 25, 2013 at Franciscan Woods (Brookfield, Wisconsin). She was the wife of Dr. Julius Meyer, who died in 1973. She was the mother of seven children, all surviving – Margaret, Michael, John, Francis, Mary (Larry) Bannister, Peter (Cynthia), and Kathleen (Brian Becker) Meyer. She had four grandchildren (James, Joseph, Julie, Kate) and six great-grandchildren.
Mary Louise grew up in the Milwaukee parishes of Gesu and St. Sebastian's. She graduated from Holy Angles Academy in 1938. Her family spent summers in a cottage they built on Booth Lake near East Troy (Wisconsin).
She met and married her husband Julius Michael (Meyer) during World War II while he attended Marquette Medical School. They raised their children in Christ King parish and sent them to Holy Angels-Divine Savior, Marquette High, and Pius High. She was an active participant in the functions at all of these schools. She lived in the same house on 91st Street in Milwaukee from 1948 until 2011. She graduated from UWM in 1976. She found it ironic that after taking a final exam she suffered her first heart attack while covered by student health insurance.
She was a life-long Green Bay Packers fan, having first listened to games on the radio during the Don Hutson era. She attended games until the 1990's. She was a fan of Bruce Springsteen, the Eagles, Lawrence Welk, and Andre Rieu. She was a well-loved member of the Marq Timers aquatic exercise group from 1990 to 2011.
She was well-cared for and well-liked at Franciscan Woods where she comfortably passed her final two years. She enjoyed Bingo and other activities to within a few days of her death. Her final words were "Thank you."
There will be a visitation on Friday, August 16th, from 4:00-5:00 P.M. at Christ King Church, 2604 North Swan Boulevard, Wauwatosa, WI 53226. A funeral mass will follow from 5:00-6:00 P.M.
