"Betty" 92 years old. Was born in Minneapolis, MN, daughter of Aldrick and Elizabeth Hanson. She grew up in St. Petersburg, FL, attended St. Petersburg Junior College, and graduated from the University of Wisconsin in 1937. Betty's husband of 66 years, John Cook, predeceased her in October 2005. She is survived by son Merle Cook (Sharon) of Brown Deer, and daughter Barbara Lawrence of Madison; grandchildren, Jeffrey Cook (Andrea) of Milwaukee, Bradley Cook (Stacy) of Charlotte, NC, Trish Cummings (Tom) of Castle Rock, CO, and Karen Shaw (Ben) of Albany, NY. She is also survived by 10 great – grandchildren and 4 great – great – grandchildren. An exchange student from Finland, Gun Lundell, lived with the family one year, like another daughter. Betty and her husband were members of Kenwood United Methodist Church in excess of 50 years. They were members of the Brown Deer United Methodist in their later years. She was a past President of United Methodist Women and a member of Shorewood Women's Club and chapter AS of PEO sisterhood, once serving as the local President. Betty and John spent many summer months at their cottage on Clark Lake, in Door County. Friends may gather at ALEXIAN VILLAGE OF MILWAUKEE, CHAPEL OF THE HOLY SPIRIT, 9301 N. 76th St., on Tuesday, December 22, 12-1PM. Celebration of Life at 1PM. Memorials may be given, in lieu of flowers, to either Kenwood or Brown Deer United Methodist Church or to the Alzheimer's Association of Southeastern Wisconsin.
