Passed away peacefully on to the Lord on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, at the age of 85. Loving wife of Arthur for 69 years. Caring mother of Teresa (Mark) Vogel, Renee’ Nimmer and Sarah (Jason) Soloninka. Devoted grandma of Alicia, Thomas, Elizabeth, Lorice, Nicholas, Natalie, Grace and Joseph. Great grandma of Philip, Ioanna, Lennon and baby Dinkov on the way. Sister of Eugene (Betty) Prentice. Further survived by other family members and friends. Preceded in death by her son, Arthur David Prentice Nimmer, her granddaughter, Marissa, her parents Emory and Alice Prentice.
Marcia and Arthur Nimmer were wed in Sioux City, IA in 1955. Marcia was a business woman and entrepreneur in her early years. In Sioux Falls, SD and Peoria, IL and Fairmont, MN: Marcia started working for the telephone company, Caterpillar Tractor as a secretary, and in the 1960s she ran Nimmer’s Rapid Employment Agency and was listed in the Women’s Who’s Who of America. She engaged in public speaking for access to women’s health in Fairmont, MN through the Jaycees. After moving to Milwaukee, WI: Marcia worked in the 1970s as Executive Assistant at Rexnord, in the 1980s-1990s as the Director of Religious Education at Sts. Constantine & Helen Greek Orthodox Church, and in the early 2000s as an Administrator at Trinity Academy.
Marcia dedicated much of her time to learning through self-education and being an avid reader. Studying medicine and theology were two particular pursuits. After retiring early, she devoted passion and time to various prayer and church groups, specifically at the Parish Life Conferences for the Antiochian Orthodox Church and at St. Nicholas Church in Cedarburg since its founding in 1979. Spouse Arthur Nimmer is Chairman of the Parish Council currently presiding over Church’s 35th Anniversary.
Marcia loved acting and theatrics, going to the ballet and listening to music. While she suffered from chronic health issues for nearly sixty years, she always was an advocate for her family and cherished their accomplishments. She was proud of her family heritage that dates back to the Revolutionary war, and she would qualify for membership in the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her children, grandchildren and especially great-grandchildren were her greatest joy in life. She carried the trauma of early deaths in the family, but always focused on her faith and hope in the Resurrection of Christ as our source of strength and consolation.
