Welcomed into Heaven on October 31, 2009 at age 85. Greatly beloved and devoted mother of Sheila Bethia. Cherished grandma of Shelly (Dana) Adams. Proud great-grandma "Tic-Toc" of Alyssa, Kayla and Zachary Adams. Much loved sister of Fred (Fran) Kauzrich. Preceded in death by son Ted Clark, granddaughter Mandy Clark, son-in-law Gordon Bethia, former husband Vernon Clark, and brother-in-law J. C. Clark. Further survived by other dear relatives and many treasured friends.Although Mamie came from a very disadvantaged background due to losing her mother at age 4 and being raised by her widowed grandma in a small town in southern Iowa, she never complained and always showed a fun-loving and compassionate nature. Everyone that met her remembered her infectious laugh, generosity, loyalty and hard-working character. She taught her children to "be friendly and smile first." Among her lifetime of accomplishments, 3 of her proudest were: On her girls' intermural basketball team in high school, she and her teammates worked under the strict guidelines of their basketball coach, Mr. King. They gave their utmost effort resulting in winning the state championship for their little town of Numa, Iowa in 1941. After she was married, she had her 2 children, Sheila and Ted. Mamie was completely devoted to them and continued to show her love by generously and willingly making sacrifices for them. Mamie gave 30 years of devoted service to Pabst Brewery. She started out in the mail room, yet found her real niche as an extremely capable switchboard operator in the days when 3 operators working full-time were needed just to keep up with the hectic pace. Mamie continued to amaze her family on many levels. She could ride a bike for 20 miles without getting winded well into her 50s. She bowled in a league using a man's 16 lb. ball and did well. Though her physical health changed greatly in her last 10 years, she remained resilient and strong in spirit, surviving surgeries, accidents, infections and great losses that would have stopped most people–but not Mamie! She will be painfully missed by all who loved her! Visitation at the Funeral Home on Fri., Nov. 6, at 4PM until time of Vigil at 7PM. Additional Visitation at HOLY ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7109 W. Orchard St., on Sat., Nov. 7 at 9AM until time of Funeral Mass at 9:30AM. Entombment at Wisconsin Memorial Park
