Lucille L. Farwig
Age 96 – Milwaukee
Lucille Farwig passed away on August 4, 2024 at Luther Manor in Wauwatosa.
Lu was born April 22, 1928 in Reed City, Michigan to Theodore and Bertha (Aubert) Wegner. Following graduation from Capital University in 1953, she taught school in Columbus, Ohio for three years. In 1956 she married Bernard Farwig. They moved from Chicago in 1958, living first in Whitefish Bay, then in Mequon.
Lu was an active member of Fox Point Lutheran Church, where she taught Sunday School, sang in the choir, and actively recruited supporters for Luther Manor. She resumed teaching in 1973, teaching first grade at Keefe Avenue School until she retired in 1991. In her younger days, Lu enjoyed playing golf and tending her large vegetable garden. She also loved opera and classical music, and getting together with friends.
Lu is survived by her son, Steve (Judy) Farwig, and her daughter, Stephanie Farwig; her granddaughters, Laura (Brendan) Huebner, and Erika (Dan) Speckhard, and her great-grandchildren, Graham Huebner, Willa Huebner, Jane Speckhard, Madeline Speckhard, Thomas Speckhard, and Rose Speckhard. Lu was preceded in death by her husband, Bern, who lovingly called her “Cookie.”
The family would like to thank the caregivers at Luther Manor for their loving attention to Lu during her final years.
A private family service will be held at a later date.
Memorials may be sent to the Luther Manor Foundation.
