Leland Mark Radandt said his final earthly goodbye to his sweetheart and family on July 24, 2019, the eve of his 88th birthday.
Leland was born July 25, 1931, in Medford, Wisconsin to Emil and Lucille Negler Radandt. He helped his parents on the family farm. Lee loved sports and excelled in football and basketball. After graduating from Medford High School in 1949, he played semi-pro football with the Racine Hornets and Delavan Red Devils before an injury ended his football career.
On April 19, 1952, Lee married Patricia Brandt, the girl he had his eye on since he was 10 years old. The two of them spent the next 67 years adoring one another. Their love and commitment is the greatest legacy they could leave their family.
Lee turned his energy and ambition to the field of electronics and found in it the perfect match for his intelligence, curiosity, creativity, and perfectionism. After studying at DeVry in Chicago, he joined the army where he completed his studies and worked at Raven Rock Mountain Complex, the “Underground Pentagon”, in Pennsylvania. While there, their first of three children, Mark, was born.
After two years in the army, the family returned to Wisconsin, where their children Sue and Barry were born. Shortly after returning to Wisconsin, Lee became the first employee of Milwaukee Electronics where he spent the next 40 years, mostly as General Manager. He loved the daily challenge of designing and building products that customers praised. When he retired from Milwaukee Electronics, he bought Badger Transformers and spent the last years of his career strengthening the company before selling it and entering full retirement.
Lee was an active member of St. Mary’s parish for over sixty years where he served as usher. He was also a founding member of The Couples Club, a group of five couples who enjoyed monthly parties and frequent vacations together.
We will miss his sense of humor, his love of family and friends, and his dedication to excellence in whatever task he undertook.
Lee is preceded in death by his parents, Emil and Lucille Radandt, and brothers Fred and Victor. He is survived by his wife Pat, his sisters Laverne Jansen and Rita Kirkman, brother Jerome (Terry), sister-in-law Jackie, children Mark (Erin), Sue Evers, and Barry (Cindy), seven grandchildren, 19 great-grandchildren, and one great-great grandchild and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation at St. Mary Catholic Faith Community, 9520 West Forest Home Avenue, Hales Corners, Wisconsin, on Monday, July 29, 2019 at 1:00 PM – 2:45 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at 3:00 PM.
