Loving grandpa of Brad Bechard, Gabi Bechard, Monique Bechard, Steve Maki, Scott Maki, Ellie Maki, Rachel Bechard, David Bechard, John Bechard, Danielle Bechard, Rebecca Rogers, Miranda Rogers, Evan Rogers, Lily Blake, Sam Blake, Ashley Bechard, Zach Bechard and great-granddaughter Madelyn Maki.Joe earned a BA and Ph.D. at Michigan State University, East Lansing, MI and Masters Degree at Wayne State, Detroit, MI. Joseph was Principal, Football Coach and Teacher in Troy, MI from 1950-1968. He was Assistant Superintendant at Okemos, MI 1970-1972, at Urbana, IL 1972-1974 and Waukesha, WI 1974-1984. He was Chief Operations Officer for programs at St. Aemilian-Lakeside Residential Treatment Center Milwaukee, WI 1985-1993. He worked as a Consultant for Wisconsin Athletic Club Southeast WI 2002-2006. He also worked as an Adjunct Professor at Carroll University, St. Francis College of Nursing, UW-Waukesha, UW-Whitewater and MSU. Joe wrote 2 educational books, entitled Flexible Scheduling and Process of Small Groups.Joe was an educational innovator and teacher. He was a baseball player at MSU, with the London Majors, and with the U.S. Army. He was a mountain climber, biker, golfer, racquetball player (state, regional and national levels). He was inducted into the Sports Hall of Fame in London, Ontario, Canada, and served in the U.S. Army for 2 years.Memorial gathering at the Funeral Home Saturday, September 10, 1:00-1:45 PM.
