John J. Weishan, 88, of Mequon WI, passed away at home on November 16, 2020. after a long battle with Parkinson’s Disease.

John is survived by his wife of 67 years, Mary. Other immediate family include his daughters, Judy (Jeff) Gauvin of Goodyear, AZ, Barb (Bill) Dolan of Arvada, CO, sons Jim (Debbie) Weishan of Stevens Point, WI, Dennis (Sue) Weishan of Grafton, WI, Matthew (Judy) Weishan of Beaver Dam, WI, brother Robert, and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

John was born in Milwaukee, WI on March 3, 1932, to Eugene and Lilian Weishan. He graduated from St John’s Cathedral High School in 1950. After completing two years of college he entered the U.S. Army during the Korean War. When he completed his military service, John became a salesman for Nelson Brothers Furniture where he was employed for over 30 years. John loved the Packers, Badgers, and sports in general. He enjoyed fishing and relaxing with Mary and other family and friends; watching a beautiful sunset; and marveling at emerging storm clouds. John was much loved and will be dearly missed.

The family would like to extend a particular thank you to the staff at The Wright House and Aurora Home Hospice for their excellent care of John during his last years. John will be laid to rest with full Military Honors at Southern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery following a private funeral service.

John was an advocate of continuous learning and tutored students in English in his retirement.

My condolences to Mary, and all of John's family and friends. I have many memories of John. One that stands out, is during a visit to Colorado we went to Pearl Street Mall in Boulder. This particular mall is outdoor, and in a very progressive part of Colorado. He was in his tourist attire, and striking up conversations with all of the street performers. One of these conversations, unwittingly interrupted an "illegal sale". This shows how social and outgoing John was. It's very sad time, but we all have many fond memories of John. Please accept my condolences, and may my prayers help comfort you all.

I have many happy memories of Uncle Jack and Aunt Mary. Like my sister, I and my friends would “pop in” on him at Nelson Brothers. Always a warm reception. Warm-hearted, generous, and funny. Alive in memory.

I treasure my memories of “dropping in” on my darling Uncle Jack at Nelson Brothers when I was in high school. As an adult I realize how tolerant, gracious and sweet he was when a girlfriend and I would appear, unannounced, to say “Hi.” He never failed to greet us as if we weren’t an inconvenience, give hugs in equal measure and introduce us to his co-workers. He was a lovely man. He and his family are in my heart. His big and generous heart will be missed.

With great love we remember your dynamic, generous Father. He was an excellent storyteller, animated and well versed. His love of family warmed every occasion we shared. His sass and exuberant wit will be missed and always remembered along with his contagious laughter. May his love carry you and comfort you through all your days. Prayers for Peace and Grace. Grandpa I remember going out to lunch with you to the Elks club and watching Harry Potter.
