Age 81 of New Berlin, WI entered Eternal Life on August 11, 2011. Best friend of wife Charlotte (Nee Jung) for 60 years. Beloved father of Joan Grissmeyer, Diane (Harry) Thurin and Carol (Mark) England. Grandfather of David (Debra Schwartz) Goller, Marie (Rusty) Petrie, Amber (Kenneth) Yakel and Jacob (Haley) England. Great-Papa of Amy and Alex Yakel. Also survived by two sisters, Shirley Jenich and Kathleen (Rolland) De Baere.John proudly served his country for 21 years between active duty and reserves. He was also a 30 year Local #200 Teamsters employee. His greatest joy was spending time at his summer home on Little Rice Lake in Crandon fishing, hunting and relaxing with family and friends.Special thanks to the caring people at the Virginia Health and Rehab Center where John spent his last 2 years. They helped make it his home. Also, a very special thanks to the compassionate group from Odyssey Hospice who made his last days comfortable.Visitation will be in the Funeral Home from 10:30 am to 12:15 pm on Tuesday, August 16, 2011. The funeral service will follow at 12:30 pm. Interment with full Military Honors will follow in Wisconsin Memorial Park.
