Loving husband, father, grandfather, father-in-law, brother, uncle, and friend passed away peacefully in the comfort of his home and family Monday, December 7, 2009. Preceded in death by his parents Salvatore and Rose Maniscalco. Devoted husband to Cheri (nee Coffey) and caring father to Aimee (Clay) Fecht and Dean (Erin). Doting grandfather to Avery, Noah, Dillon, Rylan, and Aiden. Dedicated brother to Ann (Nick) Romano, Vivian (Tom) Gawin, Frank (Barbara), Marie Kelepouris, Marge (Al) Prange, Vince (Janice), Joseph (Rita), Rosemary (Bob Halliday), Louie (Paula), and Linda (John Korinek). Son-in-law to Josephine (Tom) Heaton. Brother-in-law to Lynne (James) Plaster, and Susan (Joseph) Balistreiri. John touched the lives of us all with his fun-loving spirit, mentoring guidance, compassion, and selfless attitude. His intuition was keen and his natural leadership embraced by all. During his celebrated 33 year career as an educator he was not just a teacher but more importantly a mentor, coach and father-figure to his students. He shared a passion for his family and friends, students, yard and garden, as well as sports and officiating soccer, baseball, basketball, and volleyball. Visitation at the Funeral Home Sunday, December 13, 2-5 PM. Vigil service at 4 PM. Mass of Christian Burial at ST. RITA CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1601 N. Cass St., Monday at 10 AM. Procession to Holy Cross. To all his family, dear friends and the team of wonderful care-givers at Froedert Hospital who made his long journey easier so he could complete it with courage, determination and dignity, we are eternally grateful. The special gifts John brought to us by sharing his enthusiasm for life will always be in our hearts. He will be forever with us and deeply missed by all. Memorial Contributions in honor of John appreciated to the family for a scholarship fund to be established or to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
