After her marriage to Robert she was engaged to the late Dick Pieske who unexpectedly was lost to cancer. Cherished mother to Michelle (Hollenbeck) Bentfield (Eddie Bentfield), Brian Hollenbeck (Michelle Pirelli), and Bobby Borgen (Monica Young). Step-mother to Troy Borgen and Lisa (Borgen) Mariani. Great grandmother to Brooklyn Larson. Sister to Jack Risch (Gwen) and Randy Risch (Mary). Also loved by brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, cousins, and MANY, MANY friends.
Joan was a dedicated employee of the Post Service for 30 years. She was given many awards from the US Postal Service for her meritorious service to the organization. She eventually retired from the US Postal Service to care for Dick when he was diagnosed with cancer.
Joan had many dogs throughout her life but the one that had the largest impact on her was her wonderful little poodle named Pookie. Almost everything she did or had reminded her of that little poodle. Joan always had a big heart and always wanted to make sure she contacted every single person in her family on their birthdays and was upset if she didn’t make sure they knew she was thinking of them on their special day. Joan also loved the open roads and riding a motorcycle. She had her own Harley Davidson and went on many long rides with her friends as well as with Dick. Her love for people was apparent when after Dick passed, she wanted to still interact with people so she went to work at Maria’s pizza where she found her love of pizza and interacting with people.
“MOM, GRANDMA, GREAT GRANDMA, YOU WILL ALWAYS BE LOVED, MISSED, AND NEVER FORGOTTEN.”
Visitation will be held at Krause Funeral Home, 12401 West National Avenue, New Berlin, Wisconsin on Sunday, August 3, 2025 from 2:00 PM – 4:45 PM. Memorial Service 5:00 PM.
