JAMES W. FRISCH, SR. –
Jim passed away unexpectedly on September 27th, at the age of 74. Loving husband of Jane (nee Brauer), for 42 years. Devoted father of James, Jr., Meghan (Van Thanh Dao), and Eric (Elizabeth). Tender Opa to Mia and Sophia Dao, and Emmeline and Frederic Frisch. Jim is also survived by his dear brother Richard. Jim was preceded in death by his parents, Edward and Dorothy Frisch, and brother Thomas Frisch.
Jim was drafted into the Army upon graduation from St. Norbert College, and served one year in Vietnam. He then attended University of Wisconsin Law School. Jim began his career in the Sheboygan County District Attorney’s office and served as District Attorney in Sheboygan County from 1985-1993. In 1993, Jim joined the Milwaukee County District Attorney’s office and served there until his retirement in 2015. Throughout his career, Jim was a dedicated prosecutor who sought to be just and fair-minded in his decisions.
Jim was also a past president of the Wisconsin District Attorneys Association and a member of the Knights of Columbus, serving as Faithful Navigator of the 4th Degree Assembly. In his retirement, Jim remained active with the State Bar of Wisconsin as a volunteer with the Lawyer’s Assistance Program (WisLAP).
Jim was a huge fan of the Wisconsin Badgers football and basketball teams. He also was an avid fan of the St. Norbert’s hockey team. Jim played hockey at St. Norbert’s when hockey was still a club sport.
But most of all, Jane and their children were his life.
Funeral services will be held at St. Eugene’s Parish in Fox Point on Thursday, October 6, 2022. Visitation at 10:00 AM, with Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM. Interment at Resurrection Cemetery, 9400 W. Donges Bay Rd., Mequon, Wisconsin.
