Jeanette A. Davidson Tidball of New Berlin, WI died on Monday, January 2, 2012 at the age of 97. Her final journey to heaven began at 1:20 a.m. with her family by her side.Jeanette was born to Peter G. Davidson, a blacksmith, and Inger (Pederson Skretting) Davidson on April 24, 1914 in Valley City, North Dakota. She was the 12th of 14 children. Jeanette received her education, grade school thru college, at what is now Valley City State University, majoring in elementary art education. She continued her education at Chicago Evangelistic Institute where she pursued theology and ministry in music. While attending school in Chicago, she met what would be her future husband, Sherman L. Tidball.On August 28, 1940, Jeanette married Sherman at her family home in Valley City, North Dakota. Over the course of 34 years, she served alongside Sherman in the Methodist Ministry. Their ministry in Minnesota led them to Frazee, Fosston, Le Center, and Jasper. Their Iowa ministry led them to Rembrandt, Paullina, Laurel, Lohrville, Wilton, Hamburg, and Akron.Jeanette had an unwavering faith in Jesus Christ. This passion and commitment to serve the Lord compelled her to be a great witness and warrior for Him. She started each day with Scripture and devotional readings. Jeanette will be remembered for her rich singing voice, her uncanny sense of humor, her incredible memory, wisdom, and knowledge, for being a wonderful seamstress with a keen sense of fashion, and for being a gifted artist.Jeanette will be greatly missed by her children: Sharon Wheater, Mildred Horvath, Victor (Deborah) Tidball and Esther (Douglas) Jacobson; her six grandchildren: Susan (Charles) Rainsbarger, James (Cindy) Horvath, Amber (Jeffrey) Spagna, Brandon (Stephanie) Tidball, Janelle (Zachariah) Schmuki, and Cameron (Angela) Tidball; and her ten great-grandchildren: Hallee, Ethan and Logan Rainsbarger, Ashlin and Jordan Spagna, Ava and William Tidball, Joshuah and Arianna Schmuki, and Addisen Tidball, and numerous nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her husband of 44 years, Sherman Tidball, Jr., her parents, and 13 siblings, Palma, Martha, Harold, Isabel, Florence, Godfred, Esther, Victor, Ruby, Mildred, Frances, Marion, and Peter.Visitation at the Funeral Home on Saturday, January 7, at 10:00 AM until time of Funeral Service at Noon. Burial will be held at Rose Hill Cemetery in Marshalltown, IA, on Monday.
