Williams, James W ‘Jimmy’. (“Devil Head”)
Born into Eternal Life on Friday, March 8, 2019, at age 85 after a long battle of dementia/Alzheimer’s and heart diseases. Loving father to Marc Stewart, Yasmine Williams and Maria (Jerry) Mathis. Also cherished father figure to Debra lever, Michael Lever, and Trina Hill. Grandfather to Marissa Williams, Alyia Williams, Preston Mathis, Cameron Mathis and great-grandfather to Gianna Williams, Grayson Williams and Galvin Williams. Honorable grandfather to Damien Smith, Dathien Smith, Crysta Lever, Michael Lever and Patricia Lever. He also leaves to cherish nieces, nephews, cousins, sisters-in-law, longtime girlfriend Mickey Lever, and many friends.
Born in Drew, Mississippi, and raised in Tupelo, Jimmy moved to Milwaukee after graduating high school in Saint Louis, Missouri in 1950. He joined the US Army in 1953 and spent some of this time in the Korean War as a pilot and officer. He also spent time in Alaska and had several flights to and from Mexico to Hawaii. Jimmy returned to Milwaukee, met Leona Stewart and they had son Marc in 1955. He married Merlene Ivery in 1962 and had two daughters. He worked for A.O. Smith as a welder and later retired early due to health problems. Jimmy was an avid billiards player and was well known in the city as one of the greatest pool players winning many tournaments and trophies. This is when he earned the nick name “Devil Head.” He also loved playing card games, visiting the horse race tracks in Illinois and watching the Milwaukee Brewers. James loved to travel, often in his youth taking long driving road trips experiencing many adventures. He loved his family and was often quoted as the protector and matriarch.
Visitation at Krause Funeral Home, 7001 West Brown Deer Road, Milwaukee, Wisconsin on Friday, March 15, 2019 12:00 PM with services immediately following at 1:00 PM. Burial at Arlington Park Cemetery, 4141 South 27th Street, Greenfield, Wisconsin.
He is preceded in death by his parents, James and Maggie Lee (nee Perkins) Williams, brother Robert Lee Williams, brother and sister-in-law Jesse and Ida Williams.
