Like many others, I met JR as a patron of his store Vortex Comics, and always enjoyed sticking around after hours and chatting about life and our shared passion of comic collecting. In a niche market flooded with wheelers and dealers JR was an honest businessman and a great guy all around
Jonathon G Liebherr left a message on October 10, 2025:
I never would have thought that when JR moved in next to me when I was a kid, I'd still be friends with him almost 40 years later. From helping me fix my bike to writing down our high scores on whatever atari game we were playing while we stayed up till 3 in the morning. To the family I send my condolences, he was a good man and a great friend, he will be missed.
