Jim Leis, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 77, following a short illness. His loving family was at his side. Jim Leis, a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2015 at the age of 77, following a short illness. His loving family was at his side. Jim was born February 9, 1938, to Tony and Anna (Marx) Leis in the Town of Jefferson. His siblings included: Herbert Leis (deceased), LeRoy Leis (deceased), Marie Whitehead, Walter Leis (deceased), Eleanor Leis (deceased), Paul Leis (deceased), Rose Ann Hundt and Keneth Leis. He graduated from Cashton High School, the next year he married his loving wife Rose (Schomers) on June 14, 1958. Dad worked for most of his career at Western Bell/AT&T starting as a service technician and advanced his career and education before retiring from AT&T as an engineer. Jim's true passion was his family and friends. He was a role model for living life to the fullest. His love for life, his sense of humor, and his smile and laugh were shared with everyone he met. He enjoyed golfing, traveling with Rose and friends, gardening and hunting. His family will always remember him being Santa, fishing and entertaining his grandchildren.
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Rose and their children, Kevin (Jackie) Leis, Brookfield, WI, Cheri (Eric) Been, Nashotah, WI and Scott (Paula) Leis, Coal Valley, IL. He is also survived by grandchildren, Angela (Donald) Beers, Daniel Leis, Erica Leis, Nicole (Travis) Conradt, Jamie (Leonardo) Aguilar, Tyler Been, Kory Leis, and Anthony Leis; and by his sister-in-law, Lois Schomers. "Great Grandpa" will be missed by Leo Aguilar and Ivylynn Beers who brought much joy along with visits from his grandchildren, nieces and nephews, and close friends in his last weeks.
Visitation at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church N35 W23360 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee, WI on Friday, December 4 from 10:30AM until time of Memorial Mass at 1PM. Luncheon to follow.
In lieu of flowers, memorials to St. Jude's Hospital or Boys Town appreciated. The family would like to thank the kind caregivers from ProHealth Care and the caring staff of AngelsGrace in Oconomowoc where Jim comfortably rested until God called him.
