Passed away July 24, 2019 at the age 81. Survived by his wife Diane of 56 yrs. Son Steve, daughter Lisa (Jeff) Rambo and granddaughter Jenna. Also survived by other relatives and friends. I grew up in Tosa and used to see and talk with Officer Strauss on the job over many decades. I would aee him and shoot the breeze while he was doing overtime for Tosa Fest. He was the kindest and most approachable officer i knew growing up and than living in tosa as a adult. Offi er Strauss served our community with greatness a d not looking for any special attaboy..

I was hired by Wauwatosa Police back in 1987. Jim was working day shift then and was the one that took me for my uniforms and equipment. I was immediately impressed by his attitude and demeanor. Jim always made those around him smile.
I was truly blessed to have known Jim.

I have known the Strauss family for many years. They always were there to help and always were very conscious when watching my home when I went west for the winter. Jim was a great neighbor, always had that big smile and some good stories to tell about times on the Dept. He loved working in his garage with Stevie. I am so very sorry to hear of his passing but know that he is in a better place now with no more pain. RIP my friend. You will always be in my heart. To you Diane and family, may the Good Lord watch over you and give you peace.

I have had the pleasure of knowing the whole Strauss family and this family is one of the nicest group of people that you ever want to meet. I am sure that is because of James Strauss, he was very proud of his family and it really showed when he talked about them. Also, when you were a friend of the family they all treated you like you were part of their family. They are a generous family that always helped friends and neighbors.
