I am sorry to hear of Jack's passing. I met him on some gigs we played together after I graduated from college in the 70's. I hired him for some shows at the Riverside Theater, and took private lessons at his home. He was an outstanding musician and a great teacher. The last time I saw Jack was in Milwaukee at the MAC. I was sitting in the lobby on break, and Jack walked in to play on another floor. I was glad to see him, and told him about my young son. He said the time will go by very quickly. He was right. It was a pleasure knowing him.

I had the pleasure of meeting Jack and Joellen about one month ago. They were a special couple. I had the privilege of caring for Jack a few times a week. He was so full of personality. He really seemed to enjoy listening to me read about one of the most influential jazz saxophonists, John Coltrane. Jack brought a smile to my face each day I spent time with him. He will be missed. Sending prayers of comfort to his family.
