Irene June Berry

Irene June Berry, age 101, of Milwaukee, Wisconsin, passed away on May 16, 2024. She was born on April 26, 1923, in Madison County, IN, to the late Joseph and Nellie Legg.

A kind and strong-minded woman, June loved her family fiercely. She was never afraid to voice her opinions, always eager to debate the issues of the day. June had a particular soft spot for her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was possessed of an insatiable love of sweets.

June is survived by her daughter, Carol Crowley, with whom she lived for many years. She is also survived by her grandchildren Paul Crowley, Graham (Kristen) Berry, Genevieve (Chris) Gordzelik, and Kirk (Elyse) Berry. She was preceded in death by her son James, husband George, and son Doug.

June enjoyed baking, quilting, solving crosswords, and caring for her cats. She worshipped at the United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, where she participated in Judith Circle, Prime Timers, and the Joy Singers choir.

A Visitation will be held on Thursday, June 27, 2024, at United Methodist Church of Whitefish Bay, 819 East Silver Spring Drive, Whitefish Bay, Wisconsin, from 10:00 AM – 11:00 AM. Memorial Service to follow.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Wisconsin Humane Society in honor of June’s love for animals.

Krause Funeral Home in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, is assisting the family with the arrangements.
