Family was the most important part of life for Howard. His wife and kids were the center of his world. He enjoyed creating and celebrating traditions with his family. Christmas and Thanksgiving were his favorite holidays. He said grace before meals to share thanks to God. He loved animals and had a magical and intuitive connection to them. He was an honorable man that valued honesty and integrity the most. Strong values were passed on to those in his life. He had a long career as an electrical engineer and metallurgist in the international steel industry. His job took the family all over the world for many years. They lived in South Africa, Australia, The Netherlands and Taiwan with many other adventures all over the world. Howard finished his career operating his own consulting company on special projects well into retirement.
Howard served in the US Army and went on to graduate from Auburn University. He was an avid hunter and competitive target shooter. Wildlife and the great outdoors were a passion of his. He loved music and played guitar and banjo. And he always enjoyed a fine single malt scotch.
