Howard I. Gass, M.D.

Passed away peacefully in Sheboygan Falls, WI, on July 31, 2012, at age 88. Beloved husband of Joyce (nee Lorenz) for 56 years. Proud father of Sally (Peter) Mayer, Nancy (Daniel) Dreckschmidt, Peter (Dana) Gass, and the late Thomas Gass. Dear brother of Ruth (the late James) Hunter, Alice (Harry) Paches, and the late Harriet (Lon) Loebel. Also loved by nieces, nephews, other family, and friends. Preceded in death by his parents Harvey and Odie Gass. Howard served his country for 6 years in the Navy during WWII and went on to earn his undergraduate and Doctor of Medicine degrees at UW-Madison. He practiced as an OB/GYN at Milwaukee Hospital and St. Luke's Hospital-Milwaukee. After moving his practice to Racine, he joined the Kurten Medical Group, and later retired in 1992. He continued to serve for more than 25 years at Racine Healthcare Network and Southern Center up until June, 2012. He had a passion for life, big band music, gardening, woodworking, and bow ties. Visitation at the Funeral Home on Saturday, August 4, at Noon – 2:45 PM. Funeral Service at 3:00 PM. Private burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield, WI. Memorials appreciated to UW-Madison School of Medicine and Public Health or Sharon S. Richardson Community Hospice of Sheboygan Falls.
