Helen J. Sorensen

(Nee Nelson) Was born to Norris and Ruth (nee Olsen) on July 23, 1922, in Stillwater, MN. Mother of Paul of Chicago, IL, Mark of San Francisco, CA, Barbara Lebetsamer of Rancho Palos Verdes, CA and Kathryn Dahlberg of Alexandria, VA. Sister of Barbara Vick. She is further survived by 8 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. Preceded in death by her husband Reverend H. William Sorensen and a granddaughter. Visitation at MOUNT CARMEL LUTHERAN CHURCH, 8424 W. Center Street, on Monday, November 14, 2011, 10:00-11:00 AM. Funeral Service at 11:00 AM. Private burial at Wisconsin Memorial Park. Memorial appreciated to National Lutheran Home, 9701 Viers Drive, Rockville, MD 20850. Helen grew up in St. Paul, MN and attended Hamline University in 1944 with a degree in music, piano and education. She met H. William Sorensen at church when he was a seminary student and they married on April 18, 1944. Helen was an organist, choir director and piano teacher while they lived in Houston, TX; Spirit Lake, IA; Des Moines, IA and Milwaukee, WI.
