Gerald (Jerry) H. Arnold, 88, passed away on Monday, December 18, 2023 while in hospice care. He was the devoted husband of Joan and loving father to Stan, Steven, Bradley, and Bruce.
Jerry was born on October 20, 1935, to Nellie (Adams) and Hiram Arnold in Milwaukee, Wisconsin. He served in the United States Marine Corps from January 1953 to December 1955. He was very proud of his service as a Marine and displayed a lot of military memorabilia throughout his life.
He married Joan Ann Minorik on May 5, 1956. Early in their marriage, they spent time camping with their sons and leading scout troops. Jerry worked as a truck driver for the majority of his career, retiring from Roundy’s in Milwaukee after 23 years. He and Joan loved cruising and traveling around the country. They also took frequent trips to Ho-Chunk Casino in Madison and “The Joint” (their nickname for Potowatomi Casino) in Milwaukee. Jerry loved music and played several different instruments. For many years, he played piano at hospitals and nursing homes and entertained anyone who would listen. He also played whenever the family gathered.
Jerry was preceded in death by his wife; his parents; his son Bradley; and siblings Carroll, Clifford, and Joy. He is survived by his sons Stan (Nancy) Arnold, Steven (Shellie) Arnold, and Bruce (Sharon) Arnold; grandchildren Angie, Chris, Tami, Blake, Brad, Amanda, and Bacardi; 16 great-grandchildren; and nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held at St. Charles Catholic Church, 313 Circle Drive in Hartland, Wisconsin, on Friday, January 5, 2024 from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM followed by a Catholic Mass.
