Passed away quietly on Monday, October 6, 2014, surrounded by his devoted family. He had just celebrated his 80th birthday the week before.
Known for his wicked sense of humor and easy-going manner, Jerry was seldom without a twinkle in his eye and devilish grin on his face. He constructed outlandish stories, made them believable, and poked fun at the intended audience only if/when the charade was revealed. He loved watching "his" birds, the chipmunks, rabbits and any other wildlife that happened across his backyard. He was a cross word aficionado and frequently out-performed family members who attempted to solve the puzzles with him. An avid Packer fan, Jerry enjoyed games right up until the end. He believed they needed to develop their passing game.
Jerry enjoyed work and his colleagues. He was employed by Edison Brothers Stores, Inc. until he retired in 1993. Well-liked by colleagues, his "Polish Prince" sign still holds a place of honor in his downstairs bathroom-over the throne. He kept up with fashion, picking out shoes for his daughters and commenting even on the shoes worn by nurses and other employees at the hospital during his most recent visit. He was employed by AIC from 1993-2009. He retired due to health considerations. He was fond of saying that he would still be working at AIC if he was able. His family is grateful for the friendship AIC employees continued to share with Jerry after his retirement
He is survived by three daughters, Jeanne, Cheryl and Ellen, whose names can be used interchangeably and who each claim to be the favorite, a son, Glenn, who IS the favorite, Jeanne's husband, Ron, her sons Zachary and Benjamin Collins, Ellen's children, Bradley and Colleen Seefeldt, Glenn's wife, Anna Marie, his children, Ashley, Jesse and Tyler, brother Eugene, sister Geraldine Sowinski, and extended family & friends.
In keeping with his up-beat attitude, Jerry requested that black NOT be worn at his funeral. He said funerals are too sad already. As per Jerry's request; please dress casually.
When you think of Jerry, please do so with a smile on your face. He will be missed and always loved.
