Entered God’s loving arms on March 19, 2018, at age 87. Preceded in death by his life partner, and best friend Fred Graef, his brother’s; Morris, Gerald, Jack (Deanna), and sister’s; Jean, Florence (Ray) Wollert, and Betty. Survived by his brother Chuck (Vicky) Rohde, and further survived by nieces, nephews, and a many great friends.
George had a generous spirit, and tender heart, he was always there to help others through tough times and never asked for anything in return. During Christmas he always made sure his family was taken care of, sometimes working two full time jobs so he could help family and friends. He did this quietly in the background and never spoke of it.
He had an adventurous side, traveling from the East Coast to the West Coast and everwhere in between. His outgoing personality and ability to relate to, and treat all people equally, allowed him to become friends that came from all walks of life. From Broadway Actors to Hollywood Celebrities, Restraunt Owners to Showgirls, Bartenders to the Guy down the street, he could party with all of them. And George knew how to throw a party! Weather it was meant to be a small quiet backyard cookout or a party by invitation only at his home on Milwaukee St. It always turned into an Event and a topic of conversation for quite awhile. And you never knew who would be there, Famous Movie Stars, Celebrities, Entertainers, the Lady down the block, friends from work, friends from the bar or family, it didn’t matter because it was going to be fabulous.
George Lived Life on His Own Terms, With Dignity and Integrity.
George was also a dedicated employee of AMC/Chrysler for 30 years and a proud member of the United Auto Workers Union.
A very special thank you to his niece Jane (Rohde) Blank, whom he referred to as his “Angel.”
