George Paul Petry, 92, died peacefully in his sleep at his home in Menomonee Falls, WI on Saturday, December 23, 2023.
Born January 7, 1931 in Davenport, Iowa to George Fred Petry and Sadie Marie (Krasuski) Petry.
George attended Washington High School in Milwaukee, Wisconsin, where he met the love of his life, Betty Jane Wilson, whom he married in December, 1950.
After high school, George enlisted in the Army in October, 1948, and was Honorably Discharged in July, 1952 at the rank of Staff Sargeant in Orlando, Florida. They also started their family in Florida, with the birth of their first son, Mark, in August, 1953.
After Army life, George and Betty settled in Wisconsin. George had a lifelong career with the Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, with many company transfers throughout Wisconsin and Michigan. They also added four more children to their family, Kirk, Gail, Jack and Todd.
George was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, Wisconsin Badgers, Milwaukee Brewers and Milwaukee Bucks.
George was a member of Living Hope Presbyterian Church at Dickson Hollow Presbyterian Homes & Services Senior Living Community, where he resided.
George is survived by his sister, Karen (Petry) Pratt-Beals, 3 sons, Kirk (Sharilyn Hanson) Petry of Elizabeth, CO, Jack (Betty) Petry of Lake Elmo, MN, and Todd (Janet) Petry of Menomonee Falls, WI; 1 daughter, Gail (Russ) Gilman of Port Orange, FL; 1 daughter-in-law, Ginger (Bollero) Petry of Marquette, MI; 7 grandchildren: Erica Petry (Steve Robinson), Justine (Nathan) Willar, David (Allyson) Petry, Brian (Jenni) Petry, Daryn (Kristie) Kersch, Brandon Petry, Doug (Lindsay) Gilman, Rebecca (Edward) Shklovsky; and 9 great grandchildren, Seth Petry, Simon Petry, Emmett Willar, Elise Willar, Linden Petry, Madelyn Gilman, Scarlett Gilman, Eloise Shklovsky and Quinn Kersch.
George was preceded in death by his loving wife of 70 years, Betty, his oldest son, Mark, sister, Joanne (Petry) Schultz and his parents, George & Sadie Petry.

A celebration of life will be held on Friday, May 17, 2024 at Living Hope Presbyterian Church in Menomonee Falls, WI at 3:00 pm CT, followed by private interment on Saturday, May 18th in Delavan, WI.
